BCB ups the party ante with RCF & Wharfedale

Bombay Cocktail Bar (BCB) is one of Mumbai’s latest nightclubs and is laced with a comprehensive audio system from pro audio manufacturers RCF and Wharfedale, with RCF’s premier NX series modular system providing the main stage PA reinforcement at the venue while the Wharfedale Titan series loudspeakers act as the quality surround fills.

The main PA comprises six units of the RCF NX15SMA loudspeakers flown from the ceiling, complemented by ground-stacked subs that comprise two units of the RCF 8006S subwoofers and two units of the RCF 8004S subwoofers. The surrounds comprise a total of six units of the Wharfedale Titan8A loudspeakers spread across the venue to ensure quality sound and even coverage throughout the club. The entire signal chain is managed and controlled through a single unit of the Soundcraft Signature16 console. The DJ booth features gear from Pioneer including DJM 900 NXS2 mixers and CDJ 2000 NXS2. The powerful and efficient audio system at Bombay Cocktail Bar has been designed and commissioned by the team from Dev Electronics- the comprehensive pro audio solutions provider from Mumbai along with key inputs asserted by DJ Cyrus.

Cyrus loves to mix his sets with live percussion performances, and there’s a comprehensive micing scheme in place which comprises multiple units of SM57 and SM58 microphone units from Shure.

After carrying out an extensive research and detailed analysis of the space, the Dev Electronics team, lead by Ketan Shetty, devised an efficient audio solution for each of the venues, where incabling and power solutions, placement of loudspeakers and most importantly the acoustical properties of each of the individual venues were taken into consideration while designing the PA.

Talking to the installation team about the challenges encountered during the project, they mention that one of the main work-around was the low ceiling of the indoor section. The placement of the loudspeakers and the flying points had to be done in an innovative manner so as to ensure that the lights and decorative fixtures would not obstruct the projection path of any loudspeaker. Ketan and team also suggested appropriate placements for the subwoofers too, so that all the energy would be focused on the dance floor and there would be no low-frequency cancellations.

Located in Andheri, Mumbai, BCB as a property, has been started by the Buena Vida Leisure Pvt. Ltd- it is the same hospitality company that runs the successful Blanco Lounge Bar at Oshiwara which is famous for its outdoor scenic vibe.

BCB is spread across over 4000sq.ft of plush space, sporting eye catchy décor and furnishing accompanied by refreshing beverages, bites and quality music schedule programmed by talented DJ Cyrus Krishnaswamy.

Roshan Thakkar, Director of Buena Vida Leisure Pvt. Ltd., shared a few insights about the response that BCB has had from the audience to their gig programming and said, “It has been very positive and encouraging so far. People have supported the gigs whole-heartedly by enthusiastically attending in numbers. We’ve also received a great deal of positive feedback regarding the music and have implemented this to further enhance future programming prospects.”

“Through experience, we know how crucial it is to have a good audio system in place that can ably support and reproduce great quality music. To ensure that this aspect was covered thoroughly was always a priority for us. So it’s really encouraging when our patrons commend Bombay Cocktail Bar for being a venue that sounds every bit as good as it looks,” he added. Cyrus shares his views about the sound at BCB and commented, “BCB is an absolutely brilliant place to party if you like great music and awesome sound. Ketan and the Dev Electronics team have done a fabulous job with the sound, and you can absolutely feel the amazing vibe at BCB because of this. As a DJ, it’s quite the experience to play at BCB and feed off the great energy that the crowd puts into you. Hand’s down a clear winner!”

Roshan further mentioned, “The pro audio system designed and integrated by Dev Electronics has absolutely electrified the ambience at the venue. We are extremely happy with the overall sound quality as well as with the look and placement of the loudspeakers. The setup is discreet, yet the performance is absolutely spot on! There’s absolutely no doubt that Bombay Cocktail Bar is the best place to party in Mumbai thanks to the awesome sound and music that we offer!”
