From product overviews to a very special masterclass to realistic practices in a practical scenario, the seminar covered it all.

This seminar was a perfect case in point. It was attended by a healthy mix of attendees, all eager to gain an insider’s viewpoint into the varied aspects of Touring Audio that included technologies and techniques, in addition to various tips and tricks of the trade.

Ashish Barje, Harman India’s national sales manager, broadcast and lighting, kicked off the event with a product overview covering Soundcraft’s Vi1, Vi2000, Vi3000, Vi5000 and Vi7000 mixers. His presentation tackled topics such as compatibility modes, troubleshooting issues, I/O options and interfacing.

Senior Application Manager, Sunil Karanjikar then took over and discussed about system configurations and the best possible practices in the real world scenario. He spoke at length, even showcasing the advantages of working with specialized JBL software such as Performance Manager and Line Array Calculator. In fact, Sunil even gave a sneak peek at the file he had created for the Mumbai leg of the Justin Bieber Purpose World Tour! Mr Karanjikar wrapped up his sessions with a practical session, granting attendees hands-on experience with using Line Array Calculator to measure the venue while showcasing JBL VTX series cabinets, the V20 and the G28, as well as the M22 and M20 stage wedges.

The seminar was also graced by the famed and critically acclaimed Vijay Dayal, Chief Recordist at Yash Raj Studios, who shared numerous anecdotes from his long and interesting journey, as well as snippets from his recent recording ventures for big banner films. He also touched upon his tryst with Analog vs. Digital consoles.

The seminar ended with a fruitful Q&A session, during which the participants were able to take a closer look at the equipment on show. ‘Over the past few years, the technology in our products has grown by leaps and bounds,’ said Prashant Govindan, Senior Director, India and Sri Lanka at Harman. ‘We feel it is our duty to bring our partners and end-users up to speed with such developments.
