Audio Academy purchases Avid S6L

Audio Academy, an audio school and state-of-the-art recording studio recently purchased an Avid S6L control surface from the manufacturer’s Indian distributor, Ansata. The Bangalore-based live sound school already uses an S3L. In its commitment to give training to its students using the latest technology and as a result of the support provided by Avid, Audio Academy decided to acquire an S6L.

S6L is reportedly the first to be installed at an educational facility in India. Niranjan Shivaram, CTO, Audio Academy said, “‘Training students will be the primary use of the S6L, and additionally it will be also used to support touring engineers. The live sound engineers who want to familiarise themselves with it before taking it on tour, they can look forward to workshops that we will conduct to enable this.”

“Today’s bands and musical acts demand the best is the business and the S6L would cater to every one of them with its exceptional sounding preamps with a sampling rate of 96kHz, and its high channel and bus count,” added Vauhini Venugopal, CEO, Audio Academy.

“Having had it for over two weeks now, the current batch of students are beginning to familiarise themselves with it. The ease of the layouts and the brilliant feature of every switch being programmable are highlights for them,” she added.

The academy’s live sound engineer, Ashwin Shetty, is also very impressed with the new console. ‘The S6L is capable of handling 144 channels with 64 busses,’ he said. ‘It is undoubtedly one of the best sounding consoles I have come across and is highly customisable.’

Ansata CEO Leslie Lean noted that the S6L purchase highlights Audio Academy’s commitment in ensuring future-proofed engineers. ‘Niranjan and Audio Academy have been working hard to equip the next generation of sound engineers with knowledge and a good ear for sound,’ he said.

Audio Academy provides government-accredited training and AVID certification in live sound (Venue certified) studio recording, mixing and mastering (Protools certified) and music production programs.
