Denon DJ Announces Prime Series Firmware Update

Denon DJ has announced the release of their new v1.4 firmware update for the entire Prime Series hardware family.  This new v1.4 release adds internet connectivity—both Wi-Fi and wired—empowering DJs with a truly liberating expansion in connectivity. The new version also adds TIDAL Hi-Fi music streaming and offers the ability to preview tracks directly from the library view, further expanding on the standalone DJ experience.

Highlights of firmware version 1.4 are as follows:

  • TIDAL integration via Wi-Fi and wired connections

This update unlocks internet capabilities and brings the first of Denon DJ’s music steaming service partners – TIDAL. With elegant workflow access to TIDAL’s vast high fidelity music catalog, DJs can stream from a catalog of over 60 million songs (with music streaming from Beatport, Beatsource and Soundcloud coming soon), browse and play today’s top music charts plus access curated playlists to create the perfect soundtrack for any party or event.

  • Track preview from library view (SC5000/M)

Brand new and exclusive to the SC5000 and SC5000M comes another industry first feature for a standalone device - ‘Track Preview’ feature: the ability to preview a track directly from the library. DJs can now tap the album artwork from the track list to quickly preview without having to load the track plus tap across the track title to ‘needle-drop’ audition different sections of the song.

  • New Zoneplay™ feature for the Zone Output (PRIME 4)

PRIME 4’s Zone Output has been significantly upgraded with a new feature called Zoneplay. This new functionality enables the DJ to play a dedicated playlist to a separate zone/room with a smooth and automatic crossfade transition between songs. The automatic crossfade time can be set from 0 to 12 seconds so DJs can customize the automated mix.

  • Expanded track list view (PRIME 4)

The celebrated 10” touch screen on PRIME 4 has been optimized to show more tracks than ever before. In v1.4, DJs will now have the option to select between normal or expanded track list views. The expanded list nearly doubles the amount of tracks displayed making it easier than ever for DJs to find the music they’re looking for.

  • Loop In & Out point adjustment

In version 1.4, DJs can now fine adjust the In and Out points of both manual and autoloops. With the platter, this new ability enables the DJ to manually adjust the In and Out point of an active loop to perfectly align the loop regions. This feature can also be used as a creative performance element when transitioning in and out of tracks to create energetic build-ups.

In addition, v1.4 brings the following notable enhancements:

  • Improved quantized triggering. Hot cues and loops trigger immediately and maintain phase.
  • Improved search speed for high volume, drive based, searches results.
  • Forward and backward platter nudge sensitivity is now matched.
  • Quantize state is saved on shutdown and recalled on power up.
  • Rekordbox™ import on players now import new playlists in precise correct order.
  • Added ability to recalibrate platter touch sensitivity (PRIME 4)
  • Added progress bar for Zone Out current playing track (PRIME 4)
