NUGEN to Showcase Latest Music Editing Plug-Ins at NAMM 2020

NUGEN Audio provides the broadcast and post-production industry’s most advanced solutions for surround upmixing and end-to-end loudness management, metering, and correction from content acquisition through to playout.

NUGEN Audio will highlight its award-winning NUGEN Producer software suite at the 2020 NAMM Show. Included in the bundle are the Stereoizer, Stereoplacer, Monofilter, ISLst, SEQ-ST, MasterCheck, Visualizer and SigMod plug-ins, which users can purchase individually or as one complete toolkit. Ideally suited to both mixing and mastering situations, the NUGEN Producer bundle offers an unequaled collection of highly flexible, award-winning cross-platform plug-ins aimed at increasing the quality and efficiency of production.

“We take pride in providing our customers with solutions that make their projects and workflows more efficient and are excited to showcase the solutions at NAMM 2020,” says Paul Tapper, CEO, NUGEN Audio. “Tailoring our products to the specific needs of audio professionals enables them to accomplish their full creative vision in a time- and results-oriented manner. There are countless ways that NUGEN Producer can improve a mix. From tightening low frequencies with Monofilter or widening sounds with Stereoizer to mastering for digital music services and detecting/correcting codec distortion – with MasterCheck and ISL respectively – NUGEN Producer has it all.”

Included among the NUGEN Producer bundle is the recently updated SigMod, which gives users access to a wide pool of plug-ins – particularly in DAWs that support limited formats. With recent updates, the SigMod solution can now host multiple instances of the Insert module and incorporates hosting support for third-party VST2 and AU plug-ins. The newest features also increase access for creative routing options such as mid/side processing for any stereo or multi-mono plug-in. Its improved navigation controls include a search bar that enables users to filter by name, increasing efficiency, and ease-of-use. With 12 different modules that can be moved, switched or swapped, editors can create new options for the audio and work more efficiently, while also holding multiple audio processors to reach a variety of effects and changes.

NUGEN Producer also features a powerful stereo enhancement plug-in, known as Stereoizer, which adds natural-sounding width to any mono or stereo recording, while leaving the character of the source intact. Featuring total mono compatibility without unwanted artifacts, Stereoizer provides a polished, coherent sound and spatial balance with no artificial reverb, chorusing, or delay. Additionally, the Visualizer plug-in provides an indispensable audio analysis for quality audio production. It also offers a standardized set of reference tools that allow producers to work faster, avoid mistakes, and repeat past success.

Also included, as one of NUGEN Producer’s many plug-ins, is MasterCheck, which optimizes mixes to meet the standards of modern music delivery services, such as Spotify, Pandora, Sirius XM, and YouTube. These streaming apps, along with podcasts, music download stores, and websites, all use data compression or loudness normalization – often both – which might result in undesired playback of mixes. With MasterCheck, producers can identify these potential problems ahead of time and tailor their mixes to be perfectly tuned to a specific playout system. Similarly, the complementary ISLst solution, which eliminates the risk of distortion from down-stream codec conversions or inter-sample clip reconstruction errors, allows users to edit to the standards of today’s music delivery services.

Additionally, the Monofilter bass management plug-in allows producers to sharpen, define, align, and anchor the bass into an incredibly tight mix. It also enables them to align low frequencies with minimum effort – resulting in a louder, more-defined mix – and improves on the performance of live systems with separate low-frequency handlings, such as club PAs, live rigs, HiFi and 2.1 gaming. Similar to the other tools in the kit, Monofilter retains the essential character and perceived spatial characteristics of the original source.

The bundle’s Stereoplacer plug-in offers precise stereo-position control that takes users beyond a traditional mix setup, to a more focused control of frequencies. Using solo control functionality, producers can tweak, fix, or align in a stereo panorama without affecting other regions – all with full mono compatibility. Using the solution’s advanced parametric balancing controls, it’s possible to reposition complex audio, reconstruct a stereo image, or correct poor microphone placement via a dynamic, visual control platform.

Lastly, with the SEQ-ST plug-in, users can spline match and morph three independent EQ transition pairs. This includes dynamic and static pass filter effects; seamless transitions between differing environments; and creative morphs and tempo-locked effects. Beyond traditional EQ, SEQ-ST can be used to capture the flavor of a source audio and transfer it to a new piece – making it perfect for restoration and harmonization work or to unify different takes or microphone positions, among other things.
