IRAA (Indian Recording Arts Academy) Awards announces KJ
Singh as Honorary Vice-Chairman
Anil Chopra - Founder & Chairman of IRAA and Smita Rai - Executive Director IRAA,
welcome K.J. Singh - as IRAA Honorary Vice-Chairman.
Mumbai, India, 25 July 2022 - The Indian Recording Arts Academy (IRAA) Awards announced that
Recording and Mixing engineer/Music Producer Kanwarjit Singh Sawhney, popularly known as
K.J. Singh
- will take on the role of IRAA Honorary Vice-Chairman with immediate effect.
An alumnus of Trebas Institute of Recording Arts, Toronto, Canada, K.J. Singh has, over the last 40
years, worked closely with top composers and singers of India, as also with various new
artists/bands
(He runs a label called Asli Music, to support them). He has won the National Film Award, Filmfare
Award
as a sound designer and also the Pro Sound Systems - AES India Awards (now IRAA). He has also
handled
duty as a Live Sound Engineer for composer AR Rahman, singers Hariharan, Colonial Cousins, Lucky Ali
and
the late Jagjit Singh. KJ's studio recording credits include Engineered/Mixed/Mastered and Produced
on
numerous hit music albums. KJ's illustrious career also includes music composition. Full Bio in Link

The winners will be selected by an independent jury of renowned sound engineers and music industry
professionals from across the country. As Honorary Vice-Chairman, K.J Singh will spearhead the Jury
selection process and oversee the entire evaluation and assessment process, ensuring that all
entries received are reviewed and judged fairly. The new Jury list will be made available by next
week.
"I am happy to re-connect with IRAA Awards, the only technical awards, in India, which are judged by
an independent jury of professionals in the same field. Since 2006, the awards have been honoring
excellence in sound recording and audio production. I shall endeavor to keep its already high
credibility intact and include more categories to reflect the changing scenario in the audio and the

K.J.

The IRAA Awards are governed by Anil Chopra, Founder and Chairman and Smita Rai, Deputy Project
Director of PALM expo and AV-ICN Expo, who has been Executive Director of IRAA since 2016.
Smita
also produces the CONFERENCE for PALM AND AV-ICN and is Editor of both magazines.
Nominations for IRAA 2022 will open on August 15th, 2022. Only the Soundtrack/Albums/Movies/Web
Series released officially and available to the public at large from January to December 2021 are
valid for nomination. Last date to submit the nominations is 15th October 2022. List of categories

The IRAA 2022 award ceremony will be streamed in December this year. Smita Rai, will manage the
coordination of the awards, overseeing the entry and nomination process.
