Event Entertainment Industry Embraces Expansion

The event industry in India is booming and the new age technologies are transforming the music and event entertainment industry in a drastic way. The EDM Concerts and innovations in the animation technology, are mesmerizing the audience is a great way! India is re defining event experiences and perceptions. Though it leads to more and more opportunities for every facet of the country’s entertainment and culture, the industry also faces some prime challenges. Topping the list of these challenges is the Skilled Manpower. The skilled expertise is lacking and is not enough to meet the requirements in this sector. Also, the absence of good event venues raises the question of holding big scale events with ease. But the future of this industry seems to be bigger and witnesses immense scope for growth; leading to expansion of event & brand activation industry in India.

In 2016, India played a host to a number of gigs like Sunburn Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, Global Citizen Festival and many more, wherein 2017 witnessed VH1 supersonic. Purpose World Tour - Justin Bieber Concert was added as the most anticipated concert. The D Y Patil Stadium in Mumbai was filled with great zeal, swooning over the musical magic of Justin Bieber on 10 May. The entire concert planning, management and execution of the concert was managed by White Fox India. The superlative set-up and the sound technical for the concert were managed by SOUND.COM with tech support from Harman International. The lasers and lighting was supported by Star Dimensions; fireworks were led by Amir Morani Fireworks and video montages were executed by Spectrum AV. MediaPro led the trussing. The entire concert delivered extremely well thought-out showmanship and witnessed more than 40,000 fans, who erupted in loud cheer when the pop star performed his popular numbers.

The trend of music concerts has witnessed a phenomenal growth across the globe, and sure enough, India has joined the bandwagon with zeal, considering the rise of stage events since the past few years.

Honouring Punjabi music, PTC Punjabi Music Awards are presented every year and this year it was held on March 23, 2017, Parade Ground, Sector – 5, Panchkula. The Awards Night was hosted by Binnu Dhillon, Jassi Gill, Babbal Rai, Ranjit Bawa and Kulwinder Billa. Live performances came from Jazzy B, Gippy Grewal, and Kulwinder Billa, who staged some of their biggest hits. Also on stage were performances by Bollywood singers like Richa Sharma and Sargun Mehta. One of the companies that supported the technical for awards was Modern Stage Service and provided equipments like Sholite 20R Beam, Sholite 15R and Sholite LED Par 2403.

Modern Stage Service also provided the technical support - Artist, Sound, Light, Truss and Production at NIST College Fest that witnessed performance with Jasleen Royal with band.

J Davis Prosound & Lighting and Graflex Inc provided technical support for Kailash Kher Performance at Forum Mall, Bengaluru, on 31st March ‘17. The event managed by Brando Communications. Kailash Kher staged a groovy evening for his fans and mesmerized hearts of everyone present with his raw, and soulful voice. Another such event where J Davis Prosound & Lighting and Graflex Inc provided Sounds, Lights, and Trussing and LED was the Monkey Town Arts and Music Festival - 2nd Edition on 14 and 15 April 2017, at the Space Resorts, Ooty. A culmination of a myriad form of music and arts within nature’s cradle, Monkey Town showcases a blend of soul-stirring music, local dance forms and visual performances in the Queen of hills.

Also, Sound & Light Professionals powered Arijit Singh Symphony in Surat. The event presented western classical music created by symphony band with the blend of Bollywood music with Arijit Singh. An event reached the attendee’s soul through the strings of instruments and magical voice of Arijit.

The past two months saw many musical events of a larger scale. Like – Bollyland which was one of the biggest Bollywood dance music property in the country. Bollyland had performances by Neha Kakar and Arjun Kanungo to enthrall the music lovers and was supported by DJ Anshul and DJ Akbar Sami. The mega-event took place at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati on 29 April.

In Mumbai, International Jazz Day has been celebrated since the last four years. This year was its fifth edition, the event featured over 20 artists in a span of three hours. There were a mix of jazz genres, from jazz standards to jazz fusion, featuring some of the finest musicians and singers in the country. The event took place on 30 Apr 2017, at Tata Theatre, Mumbai.

UB40 India Tour 2017 took place in in Bengaluru, Goa, Pune and Mumbai on April 21, April 24, April 26 and April 28 respectively. UB40 formed in 1978 in Birmingham, England. Since then, the band has had more than 50 singles in the UK Singles Chart, and has also achieved huge international success. The sound support for UB40 India Tour was provided by SOUND.com and the event was organized by KCT Entertainment.
