Yamaha Corporation and Trinity College London Partner to Expand Access to Music Education in India

Published on 9th April, 2026

Yamaha Corporation and Trinity College London announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding in January 2026, marking the beginning of a strategic collaboration dedicated to transforming the future of music education in India.

As India experiences rapid economic growth and a flourishing cultural landscape, both companies recognise a powerful opportunity and responsibility to ensure that every child has access to high-quality music education. This collaboration is rooted in a shared belief and passion that music education is essential as a catalyst for lifelong learning, nurturing the skills, mindset and confidence that help young people to succeed in further study, employment and life. Both organisations recognise the transformative power of making music, that it strengthens creativity, develops emotional intelligence, builds discipline and collaboration benefiting not only individual students but also schools, communities and the wider economy.

Since 2017, Yamaha Music India has been actively supporting the growth of music education in India through its “School Project,” introducing structured learning programs centred on recorders and keyboard instruments to widen access for young students. These efforts reflect Yamaha’s longstanding commitment to making music education accessible to all children, and nurturing life skills that will enable them to thrive in the years ahead.

Trinity College London has offered music exams and certification in India since 1881 and has a long, well-established profile that supports music assessment and progression.

This collaboration brings together Yamaha and Trinity in a shared mission to champion both teachers and students, building on existing efforts to widen access to music education, remove barriers to participation, and drive sustainable long-term impact.
