Obsidian Control Systems unveiled the NX3, a new ONYX lighting console designed to streamline programming workflows while delivering the performance required for live productions, touring, events and permanent installations. Developed around feedback from lighting programmers, operators and designers, the NX3 combines expanded control capacity with a hardware layout built to complement the ONYX operating environment.

At the heart of the console is support for up to 64 universes of embedded processing, eliminating the need for external processing hardware in many applications. The NX3 also features a 17.3-inch Full HD multi-touch display, 10 motorised playback faders, RGB-backlit controls and a dedicated parameter touchscreen, providing users with clear visual feedback and hands-on control during programming and live operation.

The NX3 also offers support for up to three external displays, four network ports, an integrated power supply and expansion through additional control surfaces, enabling users to scale the platform as production requirements grow. Compatibility with accessories such as the NX P motorised playback wing and NX K keypad further extends hands-on control without changing workflows.

Commenting on the development of the console Neminathan, noted that user feedback played a central role in shaping the NX3, particularly requests for motorised faders, illuminated controls and a larger display. With the introduction of the NX3, Obsidian continues to strengthen the ONYX ecosystem, offering lighting professionals a compact yet powerful console platform designed to meet the demands of modern show control.
